Legacy Outdoors can tailor a hunt to suit almost anyone of any physical abilities.  We can offer lodge and ranch-based hunts, back-pack spike camp hunts, horseback hunts, and classic canvas wall tent camp hunts, to name a few.  Archery muzzleloader or firearm seasons, pre-bugle, bugle, post-bugle and late season, we do it.  So, whatever your abilities or desires are, after a discussion, we can find the perfect hunt for you. No matter what kind of rocky mountain elk hunt you’re looking for we got you covered.

When to hunt Rocky Mountain Elk!

Early season, pre-bugle can offer some great hunting as the elk are largely undisturbed. It is also a great time to harvest the biggest herd bulls as they are not with their cows yet making them both more stalkable and more apt to come in to a well-timed call. Bugle hunts are what most hunters dream of – calling a big bull into bow, muzzleloader or rifle range is what many of us picture when we think of elk hunting. And post-bugle and late season hunts can be equally productive, especially as weather pushes the herds out of the mountains and concentrates them at lower elevation. All seasons are productive and provide a different type of hunt.
